ABOUT DAVID T. CHAPMAN David was born in Guelph, Ontario, Canada in 1984, and moved with his family to Markdale in 1990. Having lived and worked the majority of his life in the Grey County area of Ontario he considers himself a "local boy". He learned to appreciate his surroundings from his father. Together or as a family, they would often go out on drives and hikes in the countryside, usually learning something new each trip, whether it was about the scenery, wildlife, cloud formations, oddities of nature and so on. ![]() David has been seriously pursuing the art of photography since he was sixteen. He is self-taught and continuing a family tradition of photographers including his grandfather, father and uncle. He started with 35mm photography and now uses digital cameras in all of his work. The subjects he most enjoys are weather phenomena, especially lightning, and other night photography including the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis). Photographing lightning was the subject which started it all -- when he discovered he could capture it on film, he was hooked and as he says, "the rest is history"! He likes seeking out unusual examples of nature, as can be seen in his photos of frozen ice sculptures and a 33-petal trillium. David likes to keep an open-mind about his subjects and insists that his photographs be true originals, unaltered by computer technology. ABOUT BRIAN C. CHAPMAN Brian was born in Durham, Ontario, Canada in 1952, and has studied aviation from the age of eight. He grew up listening to the war stories of his father and others who were in the Air Force during the War. Brian's aviation art is his way of keeping the memories alive of the many pilots and crew who bravely fought & died during WWII. Brian has found that due to the amount of research necessary for the accuracy of his work that he has had to limit his area of study for the most part to the World War II era. Brian works in both oil and a form of art he calls photographic art which involves the use of digital photography and the computer. In his photographic art he is able to personalize specific aircraft to commemorate individuals who participated in the War. His work is accomplished with a lot of detail, "as much detail as possible" for a realistic looking image.
